Description
This is a popular area for visitors to see the magnificently manicured violet or purple lavender fields. This shot was taken near to the town of Valensole, Provence in the south of France.
Millions of bees ensure that the lavender blooms successfully as it has done for generations. However, this success has brought its own problems. This is yet another place that is being spoilt by tourists not respecting the farmer's work. I witnessed poor behavior as people walked into the fields trampling all over the lavender - even cutting it (stealing), and also totally disregarding those who were legitimately trying to capture images from the roadside. This is a shame but unfortunately, it is the sight of wonderful photographs that make people want to emulate them at any cost!
