Description
After the crowds have gone! A colourful evening in the lavender fields near Valensole, Provence in the South of France. During the day time, in many of the popular locations in this part of Provence, it's virtually impossible to get a photo without people in it.
Unfortunately, so many visitors just wander into the middle of the fields and pose for selfies and videos without thinking about both the farmer of the field and the majority of those visitors who just want to see the lovely view uninterrupted.
The Valensole plateau is situated in the south of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, near Digne-les-Bains and the Verdon gorges, and covers an area of 800 sq km.
Fields of beautiful lavender abound here in the south of France alongside wheat fields and the occasional sunflower field. There are a number of charming villages such as Saint-Martin-de-BrĂ´mes, Riez, and Esparron-de-Verdon in the area too.
The best time to visit these typical Provencal landscapes is July when the Valensole plateau is awash with gorgeous blue lavender in bloom. It's a sight and scent to behold!
