On a helicopter tour from Page, Arizona to the top of Tower Butte, an incredible natural structure rising from the desert earth, we flew over this inlet. This is one of many fingerlike inlets of Lake Powell which shows the dramatic sandstone cliff edges and extraordinary geology of the area.
Lake Powell is a reservoir on the Colorado River, which straddles the border between Utah and Arizona in the United States. It is the second-largest man-made reservoir by maximum water capacity in the US after Lake Mead.
The lake is the largest coastal dune lake in Florida and North America covering almost 800 acres and surrounds the north and east side of Camp Helen State Park providing the park with an extraordinary natural resource. Lake Powell has also been honoured with an “Outstanding Florida Waters” designation.
