Artist's Description
The fields of Provence in France offer spectacular views over the lovely rows of lavender. The Valensole plateau is situated in the south of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, near Digne-les-Bains and the Verdon gorges, and covers an area of 800 sq km.
There are many fields of lavender and wheat as well as the occasional sunflower field in this rich growing area of the south of France. With charming villages such as Saint-Martin-de-Brômes, Riez, and Esparron-de-Verdon, there is plenty to see and experience too.
The best time to visit these typical Provencal landscapes is July when the Valensole plateau is awash with gorgeous blue lavender in bloom. It's a sight and scent to behold!
