Description
The last remaining leaves of the season on a 300-year old beech tree in Co. Tipperary, Ireland. It's rare to see an array of autumn colours on most trees in this country due to the winds experienced every year. But in 2020, we see some rusts, yellow and orange colours which is unusual.
As the summer was very dry in 2020, the sugars in the leaves were higher than usual before the majority of the high winds arrived. It's not normal to see the yellows, oranges and browns with the greens of the leaves all at once, if ever! The night after this image was captured most of the remaining leaves were torn off by a 90 mile per hour wind which was a shame. Also, it's quite rare to have such a blue sky in October too!
