Description
This image was taken close to the beautiful Oxbow Bend which is an overlook along highway 89/191 between Jackson Lake Junction and Moran Junction near Jackson Hole in Wyoming.
Overlooking this part of the Snake River under the Grand Teton Mountains, photographers and enthusiasts alike can catch wonderful views of the changing light on the mountains which is often reflected into the calm waters of the river. Oxbow Bend is also a very popular area to view sunrise or sunset.
An oxbow is a crescent-shaped section of river lying alongside a flowing, winding river. The oxbow is created over time as erosion and deposits of soil change the river's course.
Oxbow Bend is home to a variety of birds and animals, including pelicans, Great Blue Herons, muskrats, otters, moose, and bear.
This area under the Grand Tetons offers visitors and photographers a plethora of subjects to see and capture.
