Description
A panoramic view of the beautiful lavender fields in the Valensole area of Provence in France. The Valensole plateau is situated in the south of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, near Digne-les-Bains and the Verdon gorges, and covers an area of 800 sq km.
Fields of lavender abound here in the south of France alongside wheat fields and the occasional sunflower field. There are a number of charming villages such as Saint-Martin-de-Brômes, Riez, and Esparron-de-Verdon in the area too.
The best time to visit these typical Provencal landscapes is July when the Valensole plateau is awash with gorgeous blue lavender in bloom. It's a sight and scent to behold!
