Description
The tide is out in the small harbour of Mousehole, a charming village and fishing port in Cornwall, United Kingdom. The small boats lie high and dry with the colorful array of surfboards propped up against the sea wall in the background.
Mousehole is about 2.5 miles (4 km) south of Penzance on the shore of Mount's Bay and lies within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Almost a third of Cornwall has AONB designation, with the same status and protection as a National Park. The population of the village is around 700 people (as of the 2011 census).
