Description
This brown bear lives in the Bear Park in Bern, Switzerland. The Swiss capital city has had a close relationship with the bear since its foundation. According to legend, the city owes its name to the animal. The bear now appears on flags, fountains, and buildings, and can even be visited in the public Bear Park or Bear Pit.
At the bottom of the Old Town of Berne, right beside the River Aare guests can see the heraldic animal. It is open year-round and the entrance is free. Around the Bear Park are a wide range of seating and picture options.
The brown bear is a bear species that is found across much of northern Eurasia and North America. In North America, the populations of brown bears are often called "grizzly bears". It is one of the largest living terrestrial members of the order Carnivora, rivalled in size only by its closest relative, the polar bear, which is much less variable in size and slightly larger on average.
