Description
A typical Irish landscape view captured on the coast road between the villages of Roundstone and Ballyconneely in Connemara, County Galway. The region of Connemara is situated in the West of Ireland and is known for its stunning beauty and remoteness.
The Twelve Bens or Twelve Pins mountain range is seen in the distance and the area is covered in bogs and rocky outcrops. Due to the rugged terrain sheep graze almost everywhere with the occasional donkey and Connemara pony also seen.
This coastal road is part of the newly named Wild Atlantic Way as it hugs the coastline around much of the entire west of Ireland. Tourism is by far the most important source of income, and there are so many places to see and visit within this area of outstanding natural beauty.
Nearby, the Connemara National Park covers some 2,000 hectares of scenic mountains, expanses of bogs, heaths, grasslands and woodlands. Some of the Park’s mountains, namely Benbaun, Bencullagh, Benbrack and Muckanaght, are part of the famous Twelve Bens or Beanna Beola range. Connemara National Park was established and opened to the public in 1980.
