Description
One of the rock formations on the walls in Lower Antelope Canyon bears a resemblance to that of an Indian Chief. The land is still protected by the local people, and the stories that surround the canyon are filled with as much enchantment as finding this face in the wall suggests. Look closely to see the man in the stone gazing out to the right in the centre of the image.
Both Upper and Lower Antelope Canyons are located near Page in Arizona on Navajo lands. Antelope Canyon was formed by the erosion of Navajo Sandstone due to flash flooding and other sub-aerial processes. Rainwater runs into the vast basin above the slot canyon sections, picking up speed and sand as it rushes into the narrow passageways. Over time the passageways have eroded away, which has deepened the corridors and smoothed hard edges to form those wonderful "flowing" shapes.

Hi Rob - I love how you colored this one. You can see the shapes really well. What a fun place to explore. The sandstone designs are wonderful. L
