Description
Walking through the beautiful Lower Antelope Canyon near Page in Arizona was such a thrill, especially having been on a photography tour (which then allowed tripods). It can be very dusty within the canyon so take care in changing lenses!
There are so many images to be had, it was such a joy to see the imaginative figures and faces in the rock as well as those areas that offered a view skywards.
Antelope Canyon was formed by the erosion of Navajo Sandstone due to flash flooding and other sub-aerial processes. Rainwater runs into the vast basin above the slot canyon sections, picking up speed and sand as it rushes into the narrow passageways. Over time the passageways have eroded away, which has deepened the corridors and smoothed hard edges to form those wonderful "flowing" shapes.
